Pixi Glow Tonic Review

Pixi Glow Tonic is also one of my wishlist (Haha I have so many skincare wishlist) and finally, I managed to buy it. Yayyy! #HappiestDayEver

Product Name: Pixi Glow Tonic
Product Brand: Pixi
Product Type: Exfoliating toner
Size: 100mL
Price: RM80+-
Where to get? Sephora website (RM87), igshops
Made in: USA

What it claims?
• Formulated with 5% Glycolic Acid
• Exfoliates, brightens and smoothes skin
 • Aloe vera, ginseng and botanical extracts work together to nourish and treat
• Instant glow enhancer
• Alcohol free
• Gentle for all skin types
• Not tested on animals

How to use?
Based on their website:
Use: Either in the AM and PM or when needed
• Step 1: Cleanse your face
• Step 2: Saturate a cotton pad with the Glow Tonic and sweep across face, neck and décolletage (avoiding the eye area)
• Step 3: Follow with the a serum or moisturizer

However for me, I don't use a cotton pad sebab I rasa membazir and lagi suka apply pakai tangan.

I use this 2x per day. Normally my routine:
1. Cleanse
2. Toner - Pixi Glow Tonic
3. Hydrator (hydrating toner/essence/serum)
4. Moisturizer
5. SPF (day time) / Sleeping Mask (night time)

The packaging:
In a 100mL pale-orange transparent plastic bottle with a mint green cap. I love the design and the packaging! Senang nak tuang. Cuma kalau lupa nak tutup cap dia and dia terbalik, memang tertumpah lah. Better be careful!

The colour/consistency/texture:
It's colourless, almost like water. Not thick, not sticky, just like a normal toner. At first I thought the liquid is orange-ish. Turns out, bekas dia je yang orange. I iz tertipu...

Scent:
It's like a ginseng scent, so refreshing, and it contains fragrance so maybe it's because of the fragrance. I'm not sure but I really like the smell!

Ingredient analysis
Aloe Vera: Soothing properties, antioxidant qualities, and serves as a hydrating agent

Glycolic Acid: One of my fav ingredient. It is one of the most effective and well-researched forms of AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). Helps to shed dead skin to renew skin’s surface, visibly softening the signs of aging, particularly from sun damage.

Also read about AHA/BHA/exfoliator: SKINCARE 101: EXFOLIATOR

Glycerin: Helping to establish normal balance and hydration. It’s one of the many substances in skin that helps maintain a healthy look and feel, defending against dryness and working to maintain skin’s moisture level. Essentially, glycerin is a master at hydration, and works best when combined with other replenishing and emollient ingredients.

There are a lot of great ingredients in this Glow Tonic which is sooooo good.

How I feel about Pixi Glow Tonic?

The main reason why I bought this is because this is one of the most highly raved product. Like, semua orang suka and cakap this is is soooo good. So I really want to try!!

For your reference, I have dry skin.

It contains Glycolic Acid (AHA) which is good for rough skin, dullness and scars. It contains 5% glycolic acid and the pH is around pH4-5. In order for AHA to work effective is when the pH is pH4 and less, with 4-10% concentration

For me, it is just a mild exfoliator, so boleh pakai everyday 2x sehari without over exfoliating your skin. It does claim that it "gently exfoliates to remove dead skin cells, revealing healthy  glowing skin" -- So yes, it is gentle.

Upon application, I didn't experience any tingling sensation, takde pedih pedih, takde irritation, semua okay je. It's normal kalau rasa pedih pedih sikit since it contains AHA and maybe if your skin tak biasa dengan acids, that is why akan rasa pedih pedih. Tapi kalau tak selesa, better stop and cari products with lower AHA %. Bukan salah product ye, kalau kulit rasa pedih. Maybe because your skin tak biasa lagi with acids.

And since it contains AHA, you may experience purging. Purging tu, maybe naik jerawat, since you are using products that speeds up skin turnover. It may take up to a month, so kena bersabar. Nak pakai acids, kena berani. However, kalau jerawat tu naik dekat tempat tempat yang jarang naik sebelum ni, atau purging lama sangat, more that 6-8 weeks, maybe it's breakout.

(Hello, mana ada term "healing process", "purging"?? Hello?? Merepek ke?) Actually, purging ni berlaku kalau korang pakai products yang speeds up skin turnover sahaja. Yang contains AHA/BHA/Vitamin C/Retinoid. Kalau setakat cleanser, moisturizer yang tak ada active ingredients tu, maybe memang breakout or tak sesuai lah tu.

So, I have been using this for almost 6 weeks, 2x per day (sometimes I ada skip sebab terlupa), I didn't experience any purging. I do notice kalau milia / biji cholesterol eh orang panggil? Lepastu I apply je Pixi Glow Tonic ni, memang terus surut. It's good kalau ada jerawat pasir ke, milia ke, biji cholesterol ke, since it contains Glycolic Acid.

I do notice the glow, and kulit makin nampak bersih. Or maybe sebab other products yang I tengah guna jugak. For me, it is really good! Not sticky at all and absorbs quickly.

It is not really hydrating, so I kena pakai hydrating toner or essence to make my skin more hydrated, and memang dia tak claim pun to hydrate your skin.

CAUTION: This product is not for beginners yang basic skincare routine pun malas nak buat and sunscreen pun malas pakai. Since it contains AHA, it may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun. Dah pakai AHA lepastu tak pakai sunscreen, terbakar kulit nanti. The sensitivity may last for a week, so kalau pakai AHA, seminggu memang kena pakai sunscreen, and kurangkan kena matahari. Okay?

Overall
I love this, really works to reduce my dullness and uneven skin tone, and reduce my closed comedones. My skin texture is also getting better, less bumpy and soft.

Recommended for?
All skin type! Tak kisah what is your skin type, as long as your concern is dullness, nak kulit muka sekata, nak glowing, nak kurangkan closed comedones (jerawat pasir, skin texture, milia), this one is good for you.

Who will not love this?
People with sensitive skin since it contains witch hazel (Although ada yang cakap, witch hazel ni bagus untuk fight acne and reduce the appearance of the pores) and fragrance, so maybe certain kulit tak sesuai. Or people yang tak biasa with AHA or acids, sebab akan rasa pedih kalau tak biasa. Also, people yang tak ready nak purging sebab dia ada kemungkinan untuk purge.

Will I repurchase?
Of course, YES!

That's all, thanks for reading!
