Ever since I know about this The Ordinary brand, I feel like trying EVERYTHING from The Ordinary brand. I saw Kathleen Lights did a review on The Ordinary Coverage Foundation (She is one of my fav youtuber) so I was really excited to try. But I don't know which one to buy, either the Coverage Foundation or the Serum Foundation, so I bought both....
Here is my review.

What it claims?
Based on theordinary's website
The Ordinary Serum Foundation
Serum Foundations are lightweight medium-coverage formulations available in a comprehensive shade range across 21 shades. These foundations offer moderate coverage that looks natural with a very lightweight serum feel. They are very low in viscosity and are dispensed with the supplied pump or with the optional glass dropper available for purchase separately if preferred.
The Ordinary Coverage Foundation
Coverage Foundations are full-coverage formulations available in a comprehensive shade range across 21 shades. These foundations contain higher pigment levels than our Serum Foundations but still offer a smooth finish that avoids the heavy makeup look that can make skin appear more aged. The texture is that of a lightweight, non-oily cream.
Both look natural on the skin, resist collecting within fine lines and stay on for longer. The foundations offer a semi-matte finish and are compatible with most primers and are designed to work exceptionally well with the primers offering from The Ordinary.
So basically, the main difference is the coverage. Coverage Foundation offers more coverage than the Serum Foundation.
How to use (based on the website):
Shake before use. Dispense a small amount into the palm or the back of your hand. Smooth on and blend throughout the face, ideally outward from the midpoint of the face.
Packaging:
The packaging is really similar for both Serum Foundation and Coverage Foundation. It comes in a 30ml transparent plastic bottle with a black locking pump. The pump has lock feature which is really travel friendly. The bottle does look kind of small to compared with other foundations that I have (Yelah sebab 30ml je kaaaan)
Formula/Texture:
The Ordinary Serum Foundation
It has a thin texture which is quite runny. When applied, it looks like skin and very subtle. The texture is like a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream and easy to blend.
The Ordinary Coverage Foundation
The texture is creamy but it is not thick.
Coverage/Finish:
The Ordinary Serum Foundation
Sheer/light to medium coverage. It looks really natural, almost skin-like. Although it claims that it offers a semi-matte finish, I really think it is almost dewy finish and I can see the glow.
The Ordinary Coverage Foundation
Medium coverage but is buildable. Looks natural, not cakey at all. This one is almost like semi-matte finish but I can still see some glow.
Scent: A light chemical scent but not strong and hilang bila pakai.
My experience with The Ordinary Serum Foundation
As I have mentioned, the texture is quite thin and the coverage is sheer to medium. My dark-circles and redness is still showing through. It did cover enough of my acne and light blemishes, but I still need my concealer to conceal my dark circles.
For your reference, I have dry skin. It didn't dry out my skin, foundation tak pecah even after 5-6 hours. It can lasts for about 7-8 hours kot. After 9 hours, dah tak hilang dah. I don't feel tight/kering bila pakai this foundation, tak crease on my fine lines, tak cling on my dry patches.
I also tak experience any irritation, gatal, breakout or anything, so it's good! The texture reminds me of Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum but that one a bit pedih bila pakai but I love the texture so I tahan je lah. Obviously I am gonna love this one more sebab it is very comfortable and look like your second skin.
I love the glow, I love how my skin looks like, and I don't need to properly prep and set my skin. It it still good!
My experience with The Ordinary Coverage Foundation
As I have mentioned before, I have dry skin. I am a bit risau kalau pakai this foundation sebab takut dia thick sangat and emphasis my skin texture, fine lines and bercapuk dekat area hidung since kalau foundation je, area hidung memang akan jadi bercapuk eyyyy geram.
So the first time I tried, I malas prep properly. So, it settle into my fine lines and crease under my eyes. Oh no. I don't like it. After 5-6 hours memang area hidung dah bercapuk, I just can't. It is also a bit drying for my skin. My dark-circles and redness is still showing through. It did cover my acne and blemishes quite good, but I still need my concealer to conceal my dark circles.
However, when I prep my skin properly, I moisturize banyak banyak biar kulit memang hydrated, I pakai primer, and then set with my dewy setting spray, it looks good. Even after 9 hours, my skin still looks okay! Tak ada bercapuk teruk sangat, tak rasa drying, and tak crease under my eyes.
And again, it doesnt irritate my skin, tak breakout, and I feel comfortable. If you want a medium-high coverage, buy this one! But you need to prep and set properly, or else memang akan bercapuk and crease....
My shade is 1.1N. Both in 1.1N. Just check dekat website findation.com and compare with your current foundation shade. I compare dekat situ je and shade memang sesuai dengan kulit.
Overall
At first, I prefer The Ordinary Serum Foundation a little bit more than Coverage Foundation. After I figured out how to deal with the Coverage Foundation, I like both equally. I'll pick Serum Foundation for daily use, or when my skin is okay so I don't need a lot of coverage. I'll use Coverage Foundation when I need an extra coverage and ada banyak masa to prep and set properly.
Rate: 4.5/5
That's all, thanks for reading!
