INGREDIENT COMPARISON:

Based on the ingredient list above, I’ve bold the common ingredients. All three product contains Centella Asiatica extract which is the main reason why I’m comparing these three products. Centella Asiatica is good to soothe your skin. If your skin is irritated, have any redness, merah merah, this is good for you. It is also a great anti-oxidant and can improve your skin.

In addition to that, all three products also have allantoin which is also a good soothing ingredients. I did share about soothing products here: https://www.imanabdulrahim.com/2018/11/soothing-ingredients.html

Iunik and Apieu both contains Centella Asiatica Leaf Water as the first ingredient. They both also contains niacinamide which is good to repair your skin barrier, improve the appearance of pores and also some brightening effect. However some people yang kulit tak sesuai with niacinamide, you can try Althea sebab dia tak ada niacinamide.

All products tak ada alcohol, tak ada fragrance, tapi semua ada essential oils which might be irritating for some people, especially if you have sensitive skin.

PACKAGING:

Both Iunik and Althea comes in a white plastic tube with a flap cap. I prefer this kind of packaging than Apieu which have a screwable cap. Penutup senang hilang and leceh setiap kali nak guna, kena pulas untuk buka.

TEXTURE

Iunik: Colourless lightweight gel cream that absorbs nicely into the skin without any sticky or greasiness. However since I have dry skin, I can’t rely on this cream as my moisturizer alone. I need to add another moisturizer during the night or use sleeping mask / face oil sebagai tambahan. If you have combination/normal skin, you might love the texture.

Apieu: Yellowish-white cream texture that absorbs nicely into the skin and leaving the skin smooth. Since it contains silicone, you can feel the silicone smooth feeling.

Althea: White cream texture. The texture is quite heavy and it’s hard to absorb into the skin. Kena apply sikit sikit baru okay, layer by layer. Among the 3, this is the most heavier texture. If you have very oily skin and always staying outdoor, you might not enjoy this cream.

SCENT

I didn’t notice any scent from Iunik, maybe just a hint of bergamot oil. For Apieu and Althea, both smells similar, like a citrus-ish scent probably from the mandarin orange, lemon or orange peel oil.

CONCLUSION

Which one is the best? It all depends on your skin.

If you have slightly drier skin and you prefer only soothing ingredients, Althea Skin Relief Calming Cream is a good option for you. It contains also good hydrating and moisturizing ingredients and you can use it as your daily moisturizer. It is also silicone free, but it’s not fungal acne safe since it contains few ingredients that can trigger fungal acne. However, fungal acne can only be diagnose by doctors so if you feel like you have fungal acne, please go and consult the doctor. You can’t simply self diagnose fungal acne because you feel like you have it.

If you have slightly oily skin / combination skin with some acne, Iunik Centella Calming Gel Cream might be good for you. It has a nice texture, contains tea tree leaf water and fungal acne safe.

If you have slightly oily skin / combination skin but acne is not your main concern, you can try Apieu Madecassoside Cream. It also contains madecassoside which is the component of centella asiatica plant. It may impove your skin texture as well. And it is also fungal acne safe. Do note that there’s a few essential oils in the product so you might want to consider that one too.
