Pixi Glow Tonic VS The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

I am going to compare Pixi Glow Tonic VS The Ordinary Glycolic Acid based on my experience and my skin (and my husband's skin :P)

First of all, what are the similarities if Pixi Glow Tonic and The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution sampai beriya nak compare ni?

It contains AHA - Glycolic Acid, which is one of the most researched and good ingredient for your skin. Basically Glycolic Acid is good for removing the dead skin cells on your skin (macam kita scrub muka) supaya kulit nampak lagi cerah and bersih. Glycolic Acid is also good if you have acne scars, dark spots, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles. Kalau kulit nampak kusam, ada banyak acne scars / dark spots / jeragat, glycolic acid is good for you!

Tapi kena tahu jugak, berapa % yang kulit korang perlukan. Seeloknya kalau nak AHA betul betul berkesan, dia kena pH yang kurang daripada pH4 and 4-10%. Lagi rendah pH, lagi banyak kulit kita boleh absorb. Tapi kalau pH rendah sangat, pedih lah kulit weyyy. Kalau buat pH tinggi sangat, nanti tak berkesan pulak sampai tak nampak pun hasil tu dekat kulit. Product yang ada high % still works kalau pH dia tinggi sikit. Tapi % tinggi pun sometimes ada certain kulit tak sesuai. So everything depends on your skin jugak. Semua kulit tak sama. Faham?

pH rendah sangat = pedih
pH tinggi = tak nampak effect dia
% tinggi = pedih
% rendah = kurang effective

As for Pixi Glow Tonic and The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution?

Pixi Glow Tonic: 5 % Glycolic Acid at pH4.1

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution: 7% Glycolic Acid at pH3.5-3.7

Maksudnya? Pixi Glow Tonic punya pH is pH4.1 which is a bit higher than pH4, % dia okay lah. So Pixi works as a very mild exfoliator.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution nampak better in terms of effectiveness, sebab pH dia low and more % of Glycolic Acid than Pixi Glow Tonic.

My experience with Pixi Glow Tonic: It's a good everyday toner. I use this 2x per day. Pagi and malam. Ada Aloe Vera which is really soothing, hydrating, bau best. Overall, I memang suka and this is one of my fav toner. No irritation at all, tak pedih, kulit nampak glowing, kurangkan bumps dekat kulit.

My experience with The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution: First time pakai, pedih. Second time pun pedih. Masuk third time nak pakai, I giveup. Malas nak layan pedih dia. As it mentioned, pakai sekali sehari, waktu malam sahaja. Sebab dia quite strong.

Last last I bagi suami I pakai. A bit pedih kalau ada jerawat, but it works well. Pakai setiap malam, and it can fade you dark spots and everything. Jerawat pasir ke, closed comedones ke, whitehead ke, memang works well for him.

That's why I can't do a full review on The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution sebab I tak pakai, ni memang totally husband I je pakai, although I can see a great improvement on his skin.

Which one should you choose?

If your skin concerns are not really bad, maksudnya kulit ada masalah sikit sikit je (acne scars sikit, jerawat pasir sikit, whitehead sikit), and nak better skin tone and glow, plus if you have sensitive skin, Pixi Glow Tonic is good enough for you. Tapi kalau kulit jenis sensitive sangat sangat, maybe akan pedih jugak, sebab it depends on your skin. Kalau jenis kulit yang dia biasa with acids, this product is a mehhh for you. Sebab dia very mild je haha.

Kalau nak focus on dark spot, acne scars, banyak jerawat pasir, closed comedones, I think The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution is a better choice. Might be a bit pedih for some people tapi kalau dah biasa guna, should be okay. Kalau rasa too strong, try pakai seminggu sekali je. We don't want over exfoliate pulak.

Reminder: AHA will make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so wajib pakai sunscreen ok kalau nak guna both products ni.

Hopefully it helps and thanks for reading!
