Esther Postpartum Care: What I miss

I spent my first week of confinement in Esther Confinement Care. Now that I've finished my confinement period, there's a few things that I really miss about the center.

1. The routine.

Every morning, nurses will come to check on you, and if there's anything they can do to help, and I can always ask them about any body changes, any pain or discomfort and they'll always willing to help and advice. They will also check on the baby, and my mind will be at ease knowing both the baby and myself are in an excellent condition.

I also miss the food routine, where I always eat on time. No need to worry about food, at all. After postpartum, I always need to think about food and sometimes I'm to lazy to cook, I just eat whatever left in the fridge haha. At Esther, they will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. With addition two soups.

2. Qualified nurse who is always available 24/7.

All I need to do is press the bell or call them and they will come right away! The center is also support breastfeeding and encourage new mother to breastfeed. (But it's okay if you can't or you don't want to, the nurses will take care and feed the baby so new mummies can have a good rest).

As for me, I want to breastfeed my baby, hence the nurses will teach me the techniques on breastfeeding, how to reduce engorgement (which is very useful!), and they even let me use their breast pump to stock up my milk supply, just in case I want to have a good night sleep, my baby can still be fed.

One of the night there, my baby was crying non-stop and I didn't know what to, luckily the nurses there helped me to calm down my crying baby. I'd go crazy if there's no help since I have no idea on how to calm down the baby. Thank god everything went okay!

3. The environment.

Whats the point of having a top notch service but the environment is not that good. I've been surveying and googling a few confinement centers in KL specifically and in my opinion, Esther provides the most luxurious and comfortable place to stay for the confinement period. You can read my first impression here: ESTHER POSTPARTUM CARE REVIEW: MY FIRST IMPRESSION. It's a new, clean, spacious center with security doors and CCTV.

You guys can refer to the brochure I've attached here for more info:

Hopefully I can come back to this center, for the next baby maybe? :p

Thankyou nurses!

Thankyou everyone

Bye Esther! Thankyou for everything <3

Esther Postpartum Care: Review after the stay

As a first time mum, motherhood is very exciting, yet scary. The joy having a newborn and the awkwardness to handle them. Luckily I got the chance to stay at Esther Postpartum Care.

What is Esther Postpartum Care?

Esther Postpartum Care is a place where new mummies can have a little "vacation" after their delivery. After delivery, new mummies can right away stay at this place, have a good rest where everything is taken care of. You don't have to worry about doing the laundry, cook for yourself, your health and healing process, and most importantly, how to adjust your life with your newborn baby.

It's a place where you can have so many supports, from the qualified nurse on your new journey of breastfeeding, newborn care and your physical and mental wellbeing.

The first few days are very important as new mummies need to bond with the newborn baby and the transition period is a roller-coaster of emotion so it's really great to have supports. Most importantly, you can just have a rest and focus only on the baby.

There are so many things that I learn from staying here on handling a newborn baby and also, to take care of myself. I have all the time to bond with my newborn without worrying about other things. It makes me more confident in handling my newborn, especially with the guidance from the qualified nurses there.

They even organize some classes for new mummies. I got the chance to attend a class on baby bath and after attending the class, I am more confidence to bath my baby, especially after coming home from the center. Of course it was awkward at first but after my first time, I feel like I'm a pro already. It's not that hard, seriously :p

In addition to that, they'll focus on the recovery of the body, hence they'll provide body massage and light exercise.

The yoga place.

What I like about the dessert/soup that they serve everyday which is red dates and barley, is a very good milk booster. It can really increase the breast milk supply and I totally love this! You can totally do this at home too. Just boil the red dates and barley, and you're good to go!

My red dates and barley soup.

The food that they serve is also focus to regain health and made from fresh ingredient. For muslims, you don't need to worry because the food is from halal source. The recipe is from Taiwan so it's a bit different from your normal tastebud but seriously, it's good!

Brown rice with steamed fish, herbal soup, mushroom and vegetables. And kiwi. (I also don't know the specific name of the food haha)

This one is for breakfast. I requested sandwich because normally they'll serve quite a big portion of food, you'll be so full!

They even serve spagheti!

I really don't know what this is, but the soup is sweet and the fillings are red beans (like eating pau kacang)

I love this dish, the daging kicap is seriously the best!

Why I love Esther Postpartum Care

1. They support breastfeeding. I can co-sleep with my daughter and breastfeed her. They even encourage you to EBM for stock and will provide the breast pump. As a first time mother, of course I have zero knowledge about this breast feeding thingy. Luckily all the nurses here are so kind to teach me how to do massage if I have engorgement, how to use the breast pump and the correct way to breast feed the baby.

2. Daddy can stay with us too! So I won't miss the daddy. #clingywife #important

3. They provide everything for the baby. Clothes, nappies, barut, muslin, and they use Sebamed for the baby!

The baby's trolley. Everything is in here including wipes, extra clothes, nappies, wash cloth and blanket.

4. They will take care of us 24/7. Normally they will call our room to ask about the baby, when is the last feeding, the last wet diapers, wether the mommy had enough rest, any problem breastfeeding and I can always call the nurse 24/7 whenever I need them to change the baby's diaper or any other problems. Every morning, they'll call (since the baby is co-sleeping with us) to bathe the baby.

5. They'll serve three main meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), plus tea time (normally some desserts) and supper (normally tea)

My daily tea.

6. The nursery has cctv! So you can monitor your baby via your phone after you've downloaded the apps. You can see what your baby are doing, live! The nursery can see what the baby are doing, how they bath the baby etc etc. When the baby is not with me, I'll normally watch her by my phone so I know she's okay.

7. They monitor the baby 3x day. They'll record the weight, temperature and check for jaundice. They also monitor mummies, their blood pressure and temperature.

8. High speed WIFI. This is the most important thing. So I can scroll my instagram, twitter, facebook and also watch movies. Yay! PLUS, the room is like living in a hotel room!

9. Visitors must wear mask! They can only visit from 10am to 8pm only. Kids under 12 years old can't enter and only be allowed in the lounge area due to hygienic reason. Luckily there are a lot of toys so the kids will be entertained.

My sister in law who is 8 and can't enter the baby area so the only plays in the lounge area.

10. They'll organize classes for new mummies. I got the chance to attend "Baby Bath" class which is very useful to me since I have never bathe a newborn before. I totally love the sharing session! They also have swimming class for babies.

You can also view my video during my stay in Esther Postpartum Care here:

My pantang daily life in Esther Postpartum Care Center

Morning

7.00 am: Breastfeed

8.00 am: Breakfast is served! They'll send my breakfast sharp at 8am.

Then, normally I'll call the nursery and the nurse will come and take the baby to the nursery and bathe her. They'll also take her temperature, weight and jaundice reading. I always get excited when they say,

"Anak puan ni berat dah naik ni"

"Kuning dia dah turun sikit dari semalam ni puan"

#SoHappy #PowerOfBreastFeeding

The plastic canopy (or whatever they call) is for the baby's protection when they transit from our room to the nursery.

8.30 am: I'll take bathe. Of course there is hot shower. They'll also provide herbal bath so I can just pour the hot herbal bath into the basin and celup celup the towel.

My herbal bath.

Luckily Esther Postpartum Care's bathroom has this big sink counter so I can put all my stuffs.

9.30 am: Eat breakfast! Then I'll wait for the nurse to come and send my baby and breastfeed her.

10.30 am: Sleep! After a long sleepless night, I deserve some sleep :p

Afternoon

12.00 pm: They'll serve lunch. And sometimes when I don't finish my breakfast, they'll ask whether the food is okay or not. So caring :') (their portion so big!!!)

1.00 pm: Housekeeping akak will come and clean the room, clean the bathroom, take the laundry, change the toilet paper.

Yes, free laundry :)

During this time, sometimes I play with my baby, feed her, change her diapers or continue sleeping.

3.00 pm: Sometimes they'll send some soup, sometimes some desserts. I get excited when they send desserts! #sweettooth

On certain days, they'll organize some classes. I attended the "Baby Bath" class. The nurses teach us on how to bath the baby with practical. As a first time mummy, of course I don't have much experience and the class is so good, I feel very confidence to bath my baby after this.

4.00 pm: The class normally took around 45 minutes - 1 hour. After that, I'll feed my baby and continue sleeping! (again haha)

There are days where the nurse will come and check on you and the baby, whether everything is okay, (eg your lochia, breast engorgement, feeding etc)

Sometimes they'll provide massage to reduce the breast engorgement, tips and trick to reduce them. (Which I never knew before!)

Hot water to reduce breast engorgement

They'll also provide breast pump for supplies, just in case. I don't have to worry about anything because they'll teach on how to use the breast pump.

Tommee Tippee single breast pump.

6.00 pm: They'll serve dinner. For muslims, you don't have to worry because the food is muslim-friendly.

They'll also provide air herba, some to increase mummy's milk supply, some to reduce backpain, some to cleanse the body.

7.00 pm: Rest, breastfeed.

Night

8.00 pm: They'll send some soup.

9.00 pm: Nurse will come to check on the baby (temperature, jaundice) and everyday they'll give this piece of paper to jot down the feeding time and nappy changing time to keep track.

10.00 pm: Watch movie etc. Duh of course, they provide a super fast internet connection okay! One of the reason why I love this place hehe

12.00 am: Sleep! But normally I have to wake up every 1 hour to feed the baby. And if I'm exhausted, I can always call the nurse to help me. They are available 24/7 so I don't have to worry about anything.

Repeat the routine.

In Esther Postpartum Care, you'll have plenty of rest because there are so many people that will help and assist you 24/7. All you need to do here is have a good rest and feed your baby (if you want to breastfeed), and just enjoy the moment :)

Esther Postpartum Care Review: My first impression

I tried google about them but I only found their facebook here and website here.

Esther Postpartum Care's main entrance

Location
Kaseh 1, Cinta Condominium(GF),
No.1, Jalan Madge, Taman U Thant
55000 Kuala Lumpur

So it's near KLCC. Yay! (Although I can't go out during the confinement period but the thought of staying in the middle of KL, I'm happy! #bimbo)

And of course, it's near to my parents' home so they can visit anytime they want and also near to my husband's office so it won't be a hassle for him to travel back and forth.

You can see their location below:

Environment
Upon arrival to the condominium, we were greeted by the security guard and he showed us the unit. Yay for the security, gated and guarded. The building is so nice, obviously. I fall in love instantly at this place.

Dalam hati, "Omg boleh OOTD banyak banyak kat sini!"

This place also have ample basement parking space (tak panas) and parking is not an issue here, even visitors can park at the basement parking and every building has it's own lift so you don't have to worry about walking too much (yelah baru bersalin mana boleh jalan banyak)

Esther Postpartum Care's lobby

This place is also spacious with nice interior design! Everything is brand new since this place is new.

Everyone here will wear a mask to protect the newborn baby and all visitors' temperature need to be checked, and they must wear mask all the time inside this center. Which is very good for the baby's health.

That's me, checking out their packages.

Baby's Nursery:

Can see everything through the glass so you don't have to worry what is going on inside.

They even have baby monitoring camera so you can monitor the baby via your mobile phone. Anyone (families) can download the apps and they'll have the permission to view the baby via their mobile phone. Tenang sikit hati kan.

It's 24 hours professional nurse care, with daily baby's checkup (weight, temperature and jaundice monitoring). They'll also bathe and change the baby's diapers. Mommies, you can have plenty of rest!

The room
There are three types of room, Premium, Deluxe and Luxury. I'm staying in the Luxury room. Some of the differences are in terms of the size of the room and the size of the bed (either Queen or King).

Every rooms have 40" TV, fridge, digital electronic safe box, big wardrobe, aircond and nurse care bell so you can call the nurse anytime you need.

Yes, that's me, enjoying the king size bed with the pink nursing pillow!

The view from the bed. Got TV, and fridge!

I feel like living in a 5 star hotel room.

The bathroom
Each room will have private bathroom, no need to share ok. It's all yours!

Got bath tub ok! (Obviously not for mommies, only daddies can enjoy the bath tub :p)

Everything is new and clean! They even provide towels so you don't have to bring your own.

Plus, tooth brush, tooth paste, body wash and shampoo is also provided.

Sebamed pulak tu! And hair dryer is also included.

You just need to bring your own facial wash, skincare etc etc if necessary :)

Other facilities

Yoga area

Toddler's play area

Living area

First impression: I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Staying in a confinement center will be stress free for both new mummy and daddy knowing everything is taken care of.
